Pirbright Community Amateur Sports Pavilion

A new community sports pavilion for all ages to support healthy and active lifestyles at all ages in an area with limited access to formal sports provision. The new pavilion has planning permission and is ready to go subject to funding.

Our vision is the development of community wide, equal access to physical exercise, team sport and recreation for all ages, genders and abilities, developing a new youth, mixed ability and veterans programs and bringing competitive sport back to Pirbright. While initially based around football and cricket, the program has already developed softball and wider sports and recreational activity.

It is supported by the Army Covenant ATC Pirbright and with local mainstream and special schools. The project promotes wider participation and new community activities locally. Growth in the last year has seen 95 children aged 4-18 attending training and matches, 7 teams (boys and girls), 14 women cricketers, 18 walking cricketers aged 65-84 and disability section over the last 10 months from the demand from the parish.

The pavilion will provide accessible welfare facilities, including team and official changing, toilets, kitchen and community café, as a focal point for coaching, events and meeting place for the wider community. This will replace an existing dilapidated facility that fails current standards.

Your Fund Surrey has awarded £300,000 towards the construction of the new pavilion designed to provide accessible, modern toilet facilities, welfare and changing rooms, a kitchen and meeting space that will support the development of a wider range of sports and activities for all ages and abilities, including after school and holiday activities and a dedicated training space. The new pavilion design has planning permission and accords with the relevant standards for amateur football and cricket at youth and adult level.
