Leatherhead & Dorking Gymnastics Club

The Club and Mole Valley have been working in a positive partnership to promote and deliver our disability programme which also includes external participation from disability groups and disability schools. We are designated by British Gymnastics and Sport England as an inclusive “I’m in” disability facility and we are looking to expand our provision for the benefit of the community beyond its present capacity.

Extending the present facility will also allow for more of the wider community including schools and disability groups and gymnasts from the South East of England to attend classes . We will also be able to offer the sensory room for external users and groups throughout the local and wider community.

We are currently open 7 days a week throughout the year, with in excess of 1000 participating gymnasts. Activities including Kindergym 18mth to 3 years, Pre School gymnastics 3-5 years, General gymnastics, Disability Gymnastics, Squads, Gym in the summer courses and drop in Mother and toddler sessions. We also open during the week for our schools programme which includes main stream and disability schools. We provide social interaction for parents and children. By keeping active and participating in gymnastics children are helped to develop their fine motor skills, trust, responsibility, balance, flexibility, coordination, concentration, mental focus, strength and confidence.

We have been planning the project for the last couple of years and have planning permission for the development which includes the additional land. Phase one of the project is scheduled to commence in November comprising the construction of the main drainage and site clearance.

The total cost of the project is £1,180,000.00 and the sum we are applying for is £500,000.00 having secured 50% of the project cost.
