Stepgates School Community Pool

1/2

Stepgates School Community Pool Enclosure

Our community swimming pool; which was 50 years old and no longer functional, had to be demolished during the summer holidays of 2015.

After years of fundraising activities supported by the children, staff, parents, FOSS and the local community the project to build a new outdoor pool began during 2020 and completed early 2021!

The children have been baking cakes, taking part in sponsored swims and an annual Big Splash week, selling ice lollies, creating rivers of coin and many more activities, FOSS has organised discos, table top sales, summer fairs etc, the governors have arranged auctions, quiz nights, fish & chip suppers, bottle tombola’s and Enterprise Challenges avidly supported by the local chamber of commerce.

We’ve received generous donations from local businesses and charities that have enabled the building of the outdoor pool and the mobile changing rooms.

Our dream is to enclose the pool and build changing rooms with showers in order to make swimming available all year round for the benefit of pupils and local community alike.

Not only will this support the national issue of large numbers of children who haven’t been able to learn to swim because of Covid 19 and the lack of facilities nationwide but it will also support our mission to ensure the pool and facilities benefit the whole community where there are no local affordable options for swimming.

We have planning permission, fully detailed plans, and a contractor on board – now all we need is the rest of the money!

Please help us to win the support of a grant from Your Fund Surrey so that we can make this dream a reality. The total project costs will be in the region of £1,119,500.00 and we are requesting funding of £1,019,401.00 from Your Fund Surrey.
