Stanwell Events Community Building

Stanwell Events is a local charity that exists to improve the wellbeing and outcomes of residents in and around Stanwell.   We do this through community events that keep people connected, running food projects and supporting children and young people. 

We currently operate out of the old changing rooms in Long Lane Park, Stanwell.  However, the space is very limited and does not allow us to deliver all the projects that are badly needed in this area.  

In response to the growing demand for a dedicated community space, Stanwell Events secured a lease from the Borough Council.   Working with local architects we have developed a design that will make excellent use of existing redundant space and provide purpose-built facilities for the community.  We have been granted planning permission and are now seeking funding from Your Fund Surrey to enable this transformation to take place.

The development of the Stanwell Community Building will bring huge benefits to local residents, in particular disadvantaged groups and young people.  It will enable Stanwell Events and our partners to:

• Build community connections - extending the programme of community events and activities and hosting more outreach sessions by agencies such as the Police and Health.
• Provide access to healthy food for everyone - delivering food projects that bring people together to grow, cook, share and eat healthier food and reduce food waste.
• Support children and young people helping to raise their aspirations - hosting the holiday club all year round and opening a new homework club and youth café.

We’re seeking £895,000 from YFS towards our total project cost of £1,125,000.
